Learning About Meteorology Can Be Useful and Fulfilling

If you have a thirst for weather knowledge, a weather course or seminar is a great way to begin to understand how weather works. Courses are designed to teach the basics of the science of meteorology, and to apply the science to practical weather interpretation and forecasting. You will come away with a better understanding of meteorology and the abliity to use the many publicly available weather resources in a much more useful way. Below are some available courses and seminars.

Undertanding Meteorology and Marine Weather. This two day course will present basic principles of meteorology which will provide a foundation for the mariner to understand common weather systems. Topics covered include mid-latitidue high and low pressure areas, fronts, upper air analysis, ocean waves, and tropical weather systems. Particular attention will be paid to how these weather systems affect yachting activities and how mariners can use available weather information to make safe decisions. The culmination of the course is a route planning exercise which will make full use of real time available weather products and the knowledge gained during the course.

Custom Weather Seminars. Locus Weather can design and deliver a weather seminar to meet your special needs. Seminars can focus on any aspect of meteorology and can be geared toward audiences of all types. Seminars as short as a half day or as long as a week are possible.

When courses and seminars are scheduled, information will appear on this page. If you have a group or organization that would like to sponsor a course or seminar, please contact us and we will work with you to provide what you need.
